30th Street Station at Christmas Time

30th Street Station is one of the more recognizable buildings in Philly but did you that it's the third busiest station for Amtrak and it's also on the National Register of Historic Places?  What makes this building stand out even more is the contrast against the modern Cira Center.  Inside the building stands one of the most beautiful sculptures in the city; the "Angel of Resurrection" which is a war memorial commissioned in 1950 by renowned sculptor Walker Hancock.  It is a giant bronze statue of an angel lifting a fallen soldier representing the Pennsylvania Railroad employees who died during World War II. On the four sides of the base of that sculpture are cast the 1,307 names of those employees in alphabetical order.

Enjoy the journey...ADP
