Meet Bob on Boathouse Row

Bob is 85 years old and has been working his his refreshment stand by boathouse row for over 67 years! The city tried to get rid of his little establishment sometime back but to no avail. In 2009, the rowers raised $2000 to purchase a park bench in his honor, it's located in front of the Crescent. Can you imagine doing anything that long, that's dedication! Bob says he will continue to do this as long as he can.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith on West River Drive

Have you seen these two white birds along West River Drive?

Call me crazy but I had to stop and snap some photos of these two geese when I was driving home today. These two have been hanging out near Montgomery Drive and West River Drive for the past couple of years now.

What makes these two ducks or geese special is that they are the only two white birds among thousands of brown/black Canada geese along the Schuylkill River. Anyway, I think they deserve names, what do you think of Mr. & Mrs. Smith?

The Magnolia Garden

The Magnolia Garden, tucked away at 4th and Locust, during bloom, is the most beautiful spots in the city. The Garden was built in honor of George Washington, who apparently loved the magnolia tree. The 13 magnolia trees bordering the garden represent the 13 original colonies.
