My 3 Favorite Photos 2010 and Their Significances on ADP

Now that 2010 is winding to a close, I'd like to share with you my 3 favorite photos of this past year and their significances on ADP.

Cira Behind Bars: I first captured this Cesar Piselli building with a point-and-shoot back in early 2010 even before ADP was created. Trying to be playful, I captured it through the railings of the Schuylkill Fiver. Pleasantly surprised with the outcome, I reshot the building numerous times throughout 2010 and now it has it's own album on ADP.

View from Camden: Shot during a bike ride over the Ben Franklin Bridge to Camden, this photo cemented in my mind the fact that Philadelphia is a beautiful city. Each time I look at this photo, it inpires me to capture the city's beauty and share it with the rest of the world. My doing this will hopefull inpires others to see and enjoy their own particular towns and cities in favorable light as well.

Union Victory: Captured during a business trip out the SF, which I consider my second home, the significance of this shot is that in photography just as in life, not only you do have to be at the right place at the right time but a little luck wouldn't hurt either as depicted by the flying birds around the figurine.

Winter's Comfort (Screensaver)

Our first snowstorm of the season has arrived. The city has been blanketted with ~8 inches of snow. Unable to photograph the snow, I snapped a few pics of the fireplace instead. (Click on image for larger picture).

Homeland Security Prohibits Photography in the Malls

Did you know that you can no long take photos at the mall? What a bummer right, 'cause I know that's what everyone do when they go to the mall, lol. I personally think it's actually kinda cheesy to be snapping pictures at the mall but there was this really cool lighting at Cherry Mall that I had seen on my previous trip and wanted to capture it as practice for my minimalism photography. (Besides, whatese was I going to do when my friends were shopping?)

As soon as I was done capturing what I wanted, a mall security guard came up to me a handed a business size card with the mall policy, nicely telling me that it due to Homeland Security, I couldn't snap pictures. I inquired what about all these people with camera phones? He didn't have an answer. Anyway, I m not the defiant type, so I put my camera away and met up with my friends. Here are the photos that I did manage to capture.

Merry Christmas from LOVE Park, Philadelphia

LOVE Park: Sunday 12.05.2010

Got a chance to snap a few pics of the Christmas Tree in LOVE Park this evening. In the first shot below, I had the assistance of one of the Park's "resident" to present the tree to the world...

The LOVE statue by Robert Indiana is usually a nice place to visit and with the Christmas tree, it makes it even nicer!

Preparation for the "Perspectives" Photo Exhibit Was a Lot of Fun!

The preparation for the "Perspectives" photo exhibit is something that I'll cherish and look back with fond memories. I learned alot from experience, met some wonderful individuals along the way, and culminated in a show that was alot of fun for everyone!!!

The Exhibit Committee and I celebrated every step along the way from the framing party, where I cut my index finger after a few glasses of chardonay, to the post exhibit celebration where we toasted champagne to a job well done by the Exhibit Committee... Here are a few "behind the scene" shots that I like to share with you.
Framing Party: Everything is much more fun with alcohol involved :-)

Preparation at Aki:

We did it!!!

It's Finally Here: The First ADP Photo Exhibit entitled "Perspectives"

I am excited and looking forward to the first ADP photo exhibit on Friday December 03, 2010. I chose the name "Perspectives" because the photographs on display were all taken from "different perspectives", which align with the mission of ADP and that is to inspire everyone to see their world in a different perspective and in the process enjoy their life's journey a little more.

What exactly does this mean you may ask?

For example:
1. The Cira Building, anyone passing by this building will usually snap a picture of it unobstructed, but when framed behing the river railings, it looks quite different.

2. A different perspective can also help us look at something in a fresh new way such as the Victory Figurine as surrounded by the ground hibiscus in Union Square, San Francisco.

3. Finally, it can help us appreciate something that we have right in our backyard as demonstrated by the view from Camden of Philadelphia.

These are just 3 of the 11 photographs that will be on display along with a complete porfolio of ADP photographs. What is also exciting for me personally is that proceeds from the sale will benefit P.I.CK., Photography for Inner City Kids.

I am looking forward to meeting some of you for the very first time, I hope to to see you all there! For details, please click here.
