The African American Museum of Philadelphia (AAMP)

Located at 7th and Arch, the AAMP was founded in 1976 in celebration of the nation's Bicentennial. The AAMP is the first institution funded and built by a major municipality to preserve, interpret and exhibit the heritage of African Americans. Website

Using Groupon's offer, I took the opportunity to visit the Museum for $5. For some reason, Galleries 2 and 3 on the upper floors were closed today. Listening to the history narratives, it reminds me of how far the blacks as a group have advanced in this country and it's nice to know that Philadelphia served such an important role in the advancement.

Enjoy the journey...ADP
